황금의 삼각지대를 이루고 있는 미술관이다. 외장을 새로 단장한 프라도미술관은
셋 중에서도 가장 중요한 열쇠 구실을 하는 미술관으로서 그 자체만으로도 유럽의
문화 지형도에서 마드리드의 위치를 중요하게 해주는 귀중한 곳이다. 이 미술관이
유명한 이유는 엘 그레코, 고아, 무릴로, 루벤스, 티치아노, 보슈, 라파엘, 보티첼리,
프라 안젤리코를 비롯한 화가들의 8000여점이 넘는 회화 작품 때문이다. 벨라스케스의
작품들 가운데 80퍼센트는 이곳에 소장되어 있다. 대표적인 소장품으로는 벨라스케스의
《궁녀들(Las Meninas)》, 고야의 《옷을 벗은 마하(La Maja Desnuda)》, 《옷을 입은 마하(La Maja Vestida)》등이 있다
